Figure Drawing in the Workshops
I haven't been to a workshop in years.. I've thought about going off and on for a while but I finally went with a friend of mine last week. It was more fun than I remembered... and all the old skills and techniques came right back.. like riding a bike. I guess you would call this more traditional than what I usually do.. but all the same, it was just as fun.
Mynxx - Music Video
I did this last month for a pretty well know Art Director turn Director DC5. This is for a Russian pop star names Mynxx. She's was in town to shoot this music video for her next big hit. There were a few really busy club scenes. They turned out pretty good though. This was 3 day job, I wish I would have had more time to throw some value on these. I think that would have put them over the top. Oh well, you do your very best with what you're given I suppose. Check it out.

These Chicks Rock!
Hey guys, I just finished a music video for a Bay Area production studio. It turned out really well. I can't wait to see the video. As in many videos, there's always a bit of a story that captures the emotions of the song. This happens before the music begins, so I guess it's part of the opening scenes that kicks off the music.
Here the band is going over the plan before they step out of their car and bust in to some poor guys' house. I had a good time doing it. The director was great to work with. The past couple of jobs have been brought to me under rushed conditions, with this one I was given a good amount of time to bring the words to life so... much appreciated. Everyone was very pleased with how the boards came out, myself included.

I Want Him Dead - Storyboards
This was a fun job. It was for a short film titled "I want him dead." It's about how a girl gets revenge on her bad ex-boyfriend in a very Looney Tunes type way. It's a very funny script. I think it should be out by spring or early summer for all the various film festivals.
The image reads top to bottom starting on the left and continues on to the rows on the right. The last two frames are a a very long camera movement to the right which establishes the entire setting of the photo shoot. It was a pretty fast job. I had to board the entire film in about two weeks, but everyone was happy.

White Sands 2100 Matte Painting
So the idea was that this is White Sands New Mexico after the "big one" hits the West and creates a giant crack into the US starting from the Gulf of California. So in the year 2100, White Sands New Mexico is next to the new larger Gulf of California and also has one of three U.S. space ports. They're enjoying the economic boom because of the space port so it has become this idyllic City/Community.
Just an idea, I thought it was interesting. If you look at what they're watching at the drive-in, you'll see that the Three Stooges are still awesome in the future.

"Keep a lookout from the watchtowers of the north."
This a storyboard from a story I wrote. I was going for the big fantasy summer movie feel. Bring some popcorn, it's going to be good.
"Whatever you do son... don't go to the Carnival"

I wrote a short story about a kid living in a dust bowl country town back around 1910 who goes to the traveling show that comes to town. He sees things that change him and at the end he realizes that he loses a big part of his childhood innocence that night and comes to regret it.
So I storyboarded it out. I had to go without any elaborate camera movement so I could lay them out nine to a page like this.
I think it's a really touching tale about those moments that move us forward in to adulthood, whether we want to or not. Such is life.
